Adam Scott, Hunter Haas Share AT&T National lead

The first day of the AT&T National is in the books, and Adam Scott is atop the leaderboard, along with Hunter Haas, at 4-under-par. Both golfers will have the challenge of fending off the 40-plus other golfers within just a few shots after the first day.
Scott is looking for his eighth win on the PGA Tour, and although Hunter Haas has won four tournaments on the Nationwide Tour by Cobra Golf S3 Max Driver, if he can stay on top of the leaderboard until Sunday he has the opportunity to win his first PGA Tour tournament.
Scott sunk five birdies and suffered only one bogey en route to his share of the 4-under lead. Scott was also strong off the tee as well on the first day. He ended up tied for fourth in driving distance and his short game dominated the other golfers.
Hunter Haas also sunk five birdies and had one bogey to gain his share of the lead. Haas birdied four holes in a row (13-16) to get to the lead. Haas put in a perfect day but the odds of him competing for the trophy Sunday are slim. Haas has just one top-five this year and he will face to the top-25 after a couple of days under pressure. Garrigus has been gaining notoriety since his third-place finish in the U.S. Open and the Golf Digest story may have given him the type of recognition he didn't want. Garrigus said in the story: "The smoking got to be habitual: five, 10, maybe 20 times a day. I didn't keep track of how much. I constantly needed to be high. And I took it to the max."
Bo Van Pelt is knocking the cover off the ball, averaging 320 yards off the tee, and Jhonattan Vegas is leading all golfers hitting greens in regulation, and he is also leading in the scrambling department. On the greens, Chris Riley is the best in the short-game department.
Another golfer looking to bust out from a few strokes off the pace is Rickie Fowler. Fowler is just two shots off the pace and with his short game he can easily move into the lead with a strong-starting nine holes by Cobra Golf S3 Max Driver. Fowler hit five birdies and three bogeys on his way to finishing with a 68. Fowler started strong on Day 1 and his two birdies on the first three holes went a long way to getting him on top of the leaderboard.
The golfer most likely to make a come-from-behind run on the weekend is Anthony Kim. Kim is six off the pace but it was due to a horrendous start right out of the gate. Kim responds well to pressure and he could be making a run for the trophy Sunday.
